YLS Events

The Young Leaders Society hosts various events throughout the year including social and networking events, professional development seminars and volunteer opportunities.  Each offer different benefits, some are only open to current YLS members, but all of the events are planned by members of the YLS steering committee who take time to evaluate the most beneficial opportunities available for young professionals in the Midlands, so don't miss out!

Get involved in United Way of the Midlands Day of Action:

  • Involve co-workers and friends and help us collect new children's books that will be used to read to students participating in the Midlands Reading Consortium (MRC). Please bring books to United Way of the Midlands at 1800 Main Street Columbia, SC 29201 by September 30 or to the event on October 1.

The books have been carefully selected to be age and child appropriate. Please only collect books on the wish list.

  • Meet at the Capital Senior Center at Maxcy Gregg Park on Friday, October 1 from 9:30-11:00AM for United Way of the Midlands' Day of Action event where participants will be sorting and preparing supplies for distribution.

YLS & WIP have joined forces to build an affinity group team for the project so we need your help! If you are interested, please contact Hope Whitesides, United Way of the Midlands WIP Liaison, at hwhitesides@uway.org or 803.748.7287.
